It's Planting Time Again

After the terrible rain storms that hit last week the week end was nice with sunny skies and brisk winds that helped dry out the soaked beds in the orchard. With the beds dry it was time to plant again.  The pea fences were put up so when the peas start to grow it will have something to connect to. Another row of peas were planted along with another row of bush beans.  Over where the corn is being planted, done in two week phases, another 11 rows of corn were planted using 660 seeds.  Let's hope when the corn begins to grow and we start seeing the ears of corn that we can make sure the deer and raccoons stay away from the corn.  Last year we lost the entire corn crop to the deer and raccoons so this year we are trying to figure out a way to keep them away short of placing a security fence around the perimeter of the corn field.  I think we may try a scarecrow or two but if you have any suggestions we are wanting to hear them.  Nice job George and Lisa.
